Chiropractic

What is chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a hands-on approach focused on joint and spinal mobility. In my work, I use mobilisations and manipulations to address movement restrictions.

What does chiropractic involve?

Movement assessment and testing Observing how you move, together with relevant tests, helps me identify where movement is restricted and where to begin.
Mobilisation A gentle technique applied to a joint or part of the spine without a quick thrust. This lets me work on mobility gradually.
Manipulation A short, precise thrust through a small range of movement, directed at a specific joint or part of the spine.

Where to start

Where we begin matters

The area where you feel pain or tension isn't always the only area worth paying attention to. Relevant tests can help reveal restrictions elsewhere that you may not notice in day-to-day life.

Muscle tension

More than tight muscles

Muscle tension can accompany limited mobility in a joint or part of the spine. This is why working only with muscles and other soft tissues is not always enough.

As movement becomes freer, tension in the surrounding tissues may also change.

Movement and load

Different areas work together when you move

The spine, pelvis, ribs, shoulders and other parts of the body work together. If one area moves less freely, other areas may compensate by moving more or taking on more of the load.

Scope and limits

Everything has its limits

Chiropractic care and manual techniques are not appropriate in every situation. If your discomfort is severe or you notice any warning signs, it's best to see a doctor first.
